Looking to change the look of your room, but not sure where to begin? Whether you're adding a mix of pillows to your living room sofa, or designing an entire space from the floor up, mixing patterns is a great way to add a pop of visual interest!
Create a look that's fresh, unexpected, and uniquely you.
We get it - pattern mixing can seem daunting, especially with so many beautiful fabrics to choose from! Here are some quick & easy guidelines to help you pair patterns like a pro!!
STEP 1 - Choose a statement pattern

Choose a multi-color pattern that speaks to you. This should establish your color palette & personal design style and is your jumping-off point. You'll base the rest of your design on it.
STEP 2 - Balance with a companion pattern
Featured Fabric: Bailey Palm
Is your statement piece an organic pattern like a floral or paisley? Balance that movement with a simple geometric motif like a stripe or plaid. It works the other way around, too. The key is to balance the size and style of your patterns.
STEP 3 - Add in texture and/or small-scale patterns

If your design consists of patterns upon patterns, it's important to incorporate elements of visual relief. Using solid textures and small-scale patterns not only breaks up the pattern overload but also offers an opportunity to introduce vibrant pops of color!

That's it! No hard and fast rules. Just balance the size and style of your patterns and the possibilities are endless!!
